Self-Portrait in Braces: On View
Apparently, you don’t need eye contact to hold the room.
Thrilled (and honestly, a bit stunned) to share that my painting, Self-Portrait in Braces, was selected for the 2025 International Biennial Portrait Competition.
It’s now on view at the Wausau Museum of Contemporary Art from July 10 through September 27.
This piece came from a deeply personal place, part astronaut metaphor, part reclamation of voice. It doesn’t technically smile for the viewer, and apparently, you don’t need eye contact to hold the room.
